EDF has been witnessing a stretched balance sheet mainly due to lower power tariff. The French utility’s CFO has resigned this month protesting go ahead with the Hinkley project citing its indebted status. However, French government has assured of financial bailout for EDF to go ahead with the project considering future business prospect.

AltaGas Ltd has put its investment plan of C$600 million ($464mn) on hold over an ongoing dispute over the tax on imported equipment. AltaGas has drawn a plan to export Liquefied Natural gas (LNG), but couldn't take it forward as it's involved over a tax dispute with the government. AltaGas is optimistic that the dispute will be resolved shortly and expected to take the project off in November.

Despite an ownership dispute, Electricite de France (EDF) said it was in exclusive discussions with Dalkia France for the purchase of urban lighting firm Citelum.

On Tuesday, Power group EDF confirmed an early press report that it has started talking to Dalkia France to acquire public lighting and urban electrical equipment company Citelum.

EDF and partner Exelon agreed on a future exit from the US nuclear market.
