BoK has decided to keep hold benchmark interest rates in place on Tuesday. To tackle the ongoing sluggish economic growth, South Korean government has unveiled a stimulus package on February 3. BoK is predicted to analyze the impact of the stimulus package and hence opts for keeping rates unchanged.

South Korea and China agreed to extend an existing swap agreement worth 64 trillion Korean won or 360 billion yuan by three more years, the Bank of Korea said in a statement on Saturday.
After the end of Bank of Korea's governor term, the central bank would need a new head that has strong global focus and a firm grip on international economics, said a presidential adviser.
