Takata airbag issues face many discrimination aside from fines and lawsuit resulting to sales decline along with other automakers who recalled their vehicles. The automakers formed an independent coalition and hired Utah-based Orbital ATK to conduct the investigation who discovered three factors that cause airbag rupture.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration fined air-bag supplier Takata Corp for $70 million and is ordered to stop manufacturing inflators that has ammonium nitrate.
Takata Corp (7312.T) said on Monday that it will continue producing air bags that use ammonium nitrate propellant, but will change the design of the driver-side air bag inflators.
