Amazon recently launched the new Fire HD 8 tablet which has a cheaper price. How will it fair against the new iPad Mini 4?

The iPad Mini 4 was just recently unveiled in September along with the iPad Pro, iPhone 6S and the new Apple TV model. Specs and features will tell the difference between Apple and Amazon's new tablet.

Amazon Fire HD 8 Specs

Just like the Fire HD 10, the new and cheaper 8-inch tablet also has a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It is kind of disappointing that it was not upgraded even with just a higher clock speed.

The display of the Amazon Fire HD 8 has a rather low resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, according to Engadget. Watching videos won't be exactly be a treat, but it can still be enjoyable to say the least.

Multitasking may pose a bit of a problem as the new Amazon tablet only has 1GB of RAM. It isn't much but it can still satisfy the average user. Multiple apps in the background are not recommended for a lag-free experience. It runs the Fire OS 5 platform.

Perhaps the biggest change is the removable memory slot. Users can choose a bigger storage, according to Tech Crunch. Doing so will allow the user to store more songs, e-books and movies.

iPad Mini 4 Specs

Apple's new mini tablet packs quite a punch. It has a tad smaller 7.9-inch Retina LCD display. For screen quality, it has an amazing 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution at 326 pixels per inch.

While it doesn't use the new A9 processors from the iPhone 6S Plus, the new iPad Mini 4 boasts the second generation of the A8 64-bit chip with the M8 motion coprocessor. The RAM is also abundant at 2GB, according to The Verge.

Software-wise, the new mini tablet runs Apple's newest iOS 9. There have been bugs, but the Cupertino tech giant has already sent out an update to fix them.

Prices

The Amazon Fire HD 8 price starts at $150, while the iPad Mini 4 starts at $399. Apple's tablet is certainly more expensive but is also significantly more powerful.

Users who want to read e-books and just watch mid-quality movies may choose the Amazon Fire HD 8. However, the iPad Mini 4 really has amazing specs under the hood. It's a choice between budget or performance.
