SoftBank Mobile announces its selection for Gemalto, a leader in digital security. The selection was for the commercial launch of mobile NFC services in Japan.

The launch will further expand the NFC ecosystem in Japan along with two other major mobile operators. The NFC services are powered by Allvnis Trusted Service Management Solution (TSM). The TSM infrastructure is open and scalable allowing operators to bring new providers in the ecosystem. A secure data center based in Singapore hosts the solution by Gemalto to ensure that SoftBank Mobile continues its business.

As the Japanese banks grow into mobile payment services, mobile customers will have a broader access to the NFC services portfolio. This also includes e-tickets and loyalty programs. Further, SoftBank Mobile will be able to offer NFC services to its Japanese subscribers and those abroad. The cross-border commercial deals will open the doors to benefit Japanese travelers overseas.
