Android 5.1.1 Lollipop's official over-the-air release is confirmed rolling out to first and second generation of Moto x smartphones. The final Lollipop update will bring changes, improvements and bug fixes.
As reportedly last month, Motorola has already enlisted 17 devices which will get the 5.1.1 software version of Android Lollipop and two of them are the 2014 Moto X, 2013 Moto X and Moto X Pro. Changes and add-ons expected to go along with the update are improvements with the Material Design, supports for Android Pay, USB Type-C and fingerprint sensor. It will also add device switch, device sync and a few bug fixes.
Last August 10, the Lenovo-owned tech firm already released security patches to counter Stagefright threat.
Here's a quick rundown to improvements in icons, home launcher, Material Design, and power management.
Aside from the 2014 and 2013 Moto X smartphones, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will also be update to 1st and 2nd generation of Moto E, 2nd generation Moto E with 4G LTE, Moto Maxx/Turbo, DROID Turbo, DROID Ultra, DROID Maxx, DROID Mini, and Moto G 2nd Gen (2014) and 1st Gen (2013). Meanwhile, soon to be released Moto X Style and Moto X Play are expected to run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.
