Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain News; Silent Hills Project discovered; Mobile Companion App released

Konami has released a mobile companion app for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain that could be used to call in for air support, to look at in-game maps, and to listen to music featured throughout the game. Also, a Silent Hills project was discovered in the game. 

The Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain's companion app featured with functionality like its predecessor game,Ground Zeroes, works with PS4, PS3, and Xbox One, but not on Xbox 360 or PC/Steam.  

The iOS version of the companion app, however, is currently not compatible with Xbox One as revealed by Konami in the game's official website. The supported mobile OS are Android 4.0 or higher and iOS 8.0 or higher.

Moreover, a collector's edition of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain features an extra story episode that was removed from the game. VG24/7 reports that the said collector's edition comes with a blu-ray disc that contains trailers, behind-the-scene footages, and a story episode that didn't make the cut. It added that the unfinished episode, called Kingdom of the Flies, was supposed to be number 51, "doesn't feature full cut scenes, but it's all voiced."

In related news, GameSpot noted that the Silent Hills project has been discovered in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and cited that the cancelled game is not being forgotten by Kojima Productions.

It revealed that a cassette player can be found inside a tent at the Ngumba Industrial Zone located at the Angola-Zaire Border. If the cassette player is activated, it will show the same news report that perpetually looped in P.T., or Playable Teaser.

In addition, a YouTube video from the game where one can hear from the radio news on the frightening report of a domestic murder "which is inescapable feature in P.T."

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is now available worldwide for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC/Steam.
