Tens of thousands of Yazidis, who practice their own religion and are neither Christian nor Muslim have fled targeted violence from ISIS Muslim Sunni fighters in the region of northern Iraq that borders Syria and Kurdish regions. The Islamic state's brutality worsens as a video was posted showing two gay men being stoned to death. The situation of the Yazidi religious minority in Northern Iraq also deteriorates as ISIS militants continues to keep women and young girls as "sex slaves".

Just recently, a group if ISIS militants posted a video of two men being savagely murdered for being gay. Prior to the event, a group of executioners was shown hugging the couple and telling them their sins were already forgiven. The accused were then lead in front of a blood-thirsty crowd who wants to witness the horrific event before stoning them death.

According to ISIS law, being homosexual is considered as a crime punishable by death or crucifixion. In fact, the militant group has already filmed a number of videos condemning homosexuality. Videos of homosexuals thrown from a building and even this, public stoning, are being posted on the group's social media account.

Meanwhile, the situation of the Yazidis, whom the ISIS seized last August continues to worsen as women and young girls are being kept as "sex slaves".

Zainab Bangura, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, has recently travelled to the Middle East to meet the victims of this tribulation. One of the women she met said that she was momentarily married for 20 times and was forced to undergo surgery every after occasion to repair her virginity.

According to Bangura, "ISIL (another name for ISIS) have institutionalized sexual violence and the brutalization of women as a central aspect of their ideology and operations, using it as a tactic of terrorism to advance their key strategic objectives."

It was known that last summer, an estimate of 40,000 were captured at gunpoint when  ISIS militants attacked the Yazidi Villages; And out of the thousands who were kidnapped, only hundreds have been able to return either through fleeing or by being released by ISIS.

A lot of organizations and aid groups continue to provide help to the victims, but the food and medical aid which they give is just a small portion of what these people really need. It may help them heal the wounds, but it won't take effect to the pain and trauma which will haunt them for years.
