Here is The Last of Us latest movie update, with focus on its early stages of development with the workings of Neil Druckmann as well as the possible cast.

The Last Of Us is actually a Sony survival game, created by Naughty Dog, released in 2013. It details two human survivors journeying through the U.S. after it was attacked by a fatal virus 20 years back.

One of the two would be a smart girl named Ellie, who happens to be the character Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams is rumoured to play. The other would be Joel, who is equipped with skills in battle.

Through its narrative structure and gameplay features, the game became very successful and is now being adapted onto the big screen.

Based on a report on DigitalTrends, however, screenwriter Neil Druckmann says that The Last of Us movie will veer from certain aspects of the game's narrative, though the theme and tonal elements which marked its acclaim will be retained.

He confirmed writing the 2^nd draft of the script and that a "table read" with the actors was already done. No more details were given by Druckmann, which leaves fans with a lot to wonder about, particularly the roster of actors.

So far, only one person is getting attention when it comes to the potential cast as mentioned earlier. Screenrant shared an interview with Williams, who plays Arya Start in GoT, where the lady showed enthusiasm regarding the possibility of playing Elle.

She said, "we spoke about the possibility of me playing Elle and that's really exciting and I would absolutely love to."

While this The Last of Us movie update has shed some light on the film's development, there are a lot more matters that gamers and fanatics should look forward to such as the director, the rest of the cast, as well as the release date.  

According to IMDb, The Last of Us movie will premiere some time in 2016, although, further updates are needed to confirm.
