Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have worked hard to keep their private life out of the spotlight. But now, Mendes is starting to reveal what's going on behind closed doors- how her and her hubby Ryan Gosling are adapting to the challenges of a new baby.

Mendes recently spoke to Ellen DeGeneres about the couple's baby, Esmerelda, and (no surprise here), being a new parent is a terrifyingly difficult job.

"We're getting the hang of the sleeping thing, but I'm exhausted and it's the best,"said Mendes in the interview. "I'm so incredibly tired. I thought I was tired before at times, but no, nothing like this. But I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Early on we decided it's going to be so hard for her to have privacy, and we thought, 'Well, this is the first opportunity we can give her to protect her,'" Mendes told Ellen. "So, I had a nice, calm pregnancy."

Mendes wasn't kidding about the privacy part- neither her nor Gosling told anyone that she was pregnant, the date of the birth, or that she officially had the baby. Rumors were flying aroud, but the couple made sure Esmeralda's birth was paparazzi-free.

KpopStars has another quote from Mendes, on just why they were so protective of their privacy.

"I know that it seems all very innocuous when you're flipping through a tabloid at the doctor's office or see a photo of a pregnant lady online, but I find the media's 'bump watch' obsession to be both intrusive and stressful," Mendes explained. "So I made a decision to eject myself from it completely. I was like, 'Annnnd I'm out.'"

"I think it's unfair, but that's our reality. So Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could."

Their level of fame might be rising even higher, though. SlashFilm reports that Gosling is up for two massive roles. Sony wants him to play a part in their upcoming "Spider-Man" spin-off, "Sinister Six." But Gosling would rather be a Ghostbuster in the upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot. Either way, this would put Gosling's name back in the minds of every person in America.
