Ubisoft Motion Pictures, the film and television production division of French video game developer and publisher, Ubisoft, is in talks with major film studios as it sets up more video game franchises for film adaptation.

Ubisoft, according to a report from Deadline, has partnered with Basil Iwanyk, through his Thunder Road banner, and New Regency Productions to make the film version of the award-winning stealth video game, "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell."

English actor, Tom Hardy will take on the role of franchise protagonist Sam Fisher, a highly trained agent of a fictional black-ops sub-division within the NSA, called "Third Echelon." Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," and "Edge of Tomorrow") is set to helm the project. In an interview with IGN, Liman revealed that he and Tom Hardy are presently working on the script, which will focus on a younger Sam Fisher.

"Watch Dogs," an open world action-adventure video game released just last May, is already being prepped for its big screen debut. Ubisoft will work with Columbia Pictures and New Regency to make the film, Forbes reports. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will write the script, according to Deadline. The story will be set within a fictionalized version of Chicago and will follow grey hat hacker, Aidan Pearce and his efforts to seek vengeance after the accidental death of a family member.

Michael Bay, known for directing high-budget action films notable for their stylistic visuals and extreme use of special effects such as "Armageddon", "Pearl Harbor" and the "Transformers" film series, is developing and will direct a film based on "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon," IGN said in a report. IGN added that this would be Bay's first film for Warner Bros. Entertainment, who would distribute the film. "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon" centers on a fictional squad of U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers (referred to as "Ghosts") from Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (5th SFG) stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The bad guys from Ubisoft's "Rayman" video games will also be getting their shot at the big screen. Ubisoft will be teaming with Sony Pictures Entertainment to develop a "Raving Rabbids" full-length feature film, Deadline reports. "Raving Rabbids" is a videogame franchise spin-off from the "Rayman" series, which focuses on large, crazy rabbits known as Rabbids.

A German film adapted from the first "Far Cry" video game was released in October 2008, to negative reviewsAn official reboot, Variety reports, is currently in development by Ubisoft. The "Far Cry" series is a franchise of first-person shooter computer and video games, developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft.

Meanwhile, the production of "Assassin's Creed," based on Ubisoft's historical fiction, action-adventure, open world stealth video game of the same name, is confirmed to make progress and is slated for release on August 2015, starring Irish-German actor, Michael Fassbender.
