The international version of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has been removed from the list of devices receiving the Android 4.4.2 KitKat edition. Nonetheless, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners can still update their devices to Android 4.4.2 KitKat through a N900VVRUCNC4 firmware. The update is specific to SM-N900V models.

There are several features found under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update offers for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 users. Some of these changes include:

  • Better performance
  • Longer battery life
  • White status bar icons
  • Full screen album art while music is playing
  • Lock screen camera shortcut
  • Default SMS option and launcher apps
  • Improved RAM management
  • Overall stability improvements

Users who wish to update their devices to Android 4.4.2 KitKat update can find the update through Verizon Upgrade Assistant or through Samsung KIES. Those using other carriers should refer to guidelines from their carriers about the update. Samsung and partner carriers will also launch Over-the-Air or OTA upgrade. People can wait for notification on their devices.

As for those who cannot wait for announcements or OTAs, they can choose to install the update manually. It is important to check what model the custom ROM is for. Trying the ROM on other devices may result to a bricked unit. Providers of the update cannot be responsible for the changes after installation. Users can update at their own risk.

Prior to installation, people must create a backup for all important settings and personal information. Users should install a recovery tool such as the ClockWorkMod. The device should also be charged at least 80 percent. This should avoid power interruptions and similar problems. Allow USB Debugging. The installation process depends on the custom ROM to be installed. Users should also understand that custom ROMS are not official releases from Samsung. There may be some issues or missing features but they should provide similar experience as with the official build.
