Content recognition firm Enswers has raised $2 million in capital from Samsung Ventures. The Seoul-based company will use the new funding to support its expansion efforts in the US and North America, according to TechCrunch.

J.P. Lee, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Enswers Amercia, said: "As TV sales reach saturation point, Samsung has been thinking of new business models. One of which is to distribute smart TVs as a content platform capable of providing complementary programming, t-commerce, and real-time analytics. Our technology, as well as our extensive experience in the ACR space, has demonstrated that Enswers is a good fit with Samsung's future strategy."

Enswers has tied up with Seoul Broadcastng Systems (SBS), Tokyo Broadcasting Systems (TBS), and other companies to produce second-screen experiences for its customers. Yahoo!7 in Australia is also one of its partners, the report added.

Founded in 2007, Enswers has become an independent subsidiary of KT, which was previously known as Korea Telecom. Since 2012, the firm has also provided content recognition service for Samsung Smart televisions in the US, TechCrunch reported.
