Mt. Gox has resurrected their login screen to allow users to check how much Bitcoin is left in their accounts, TechCrunch reported.

However, that's the only purpose for the embattled digital currency platform returning the login screen after weeks of displaying only legal notices. After the login screen, the notice read, "This balance confirmation service is provided on this site only for the convenience of all users. Please be aware that confirming the balance on this site does not constitute a filing of rehabilitation claims under the civil rehabilitation procedure and note that the balance amounts shown on this site should also not be considered an acknowledgment by Mt. Gox Co., Ltd. of the amount of any rehabilitation claims of users. Rehabilitation claims under a civil rehabilitation procedure become confirmed from a filing which is followed by an investigation procedure. The method for filing claims will be published on this site as soon as we will be in situation to announce it."

Mt. Gox filed for a legal proceeding known as "civil rehabilitation" at the end of February. In the notice it posted on its website then, Mt. Gox said the procedure could enable it to rehabilitate the business and pay back some of its creditors, the report said.

Part of that notice said, "In order to increase repayments to our creditors, it is necessary to explore the possibility of having MtGox Co., Ltd. continue its business. This is why the civil rehabilitation procedure has been chosen, Rebuilding MtGox Co., Ltd under the supervision of the court in a legally organized procedure.... All efforts will now be made to restore the business and recover damages to repay debts to creditors. We hope for the understanding and cooperation of all."

Although Mt. Gox has already allowed users to check their balances, there is still no certainty as to when it will allow users to finally get hold of their Bitcoins, the report said.
