Apple has been made aware of the recurring flaws in its Touch ID fingerprint recognition feature. Now, a person familiar with the matter says the company is launching a software update to correct the said flaw, according to AppleInsider.

When Apple's Touch ID system was launched in 2013, it was initially lauded for its accurate fingerprint reading and user-friendly interface. However, some users later on complained that the reliability of the system faded after a few months. Although the original performance was restored after reconfiguring the prints, the same error kept on coming back, the report explained.

According to VentureBeat, Apple plans to correct this problem by implementing a software update for the Touch ID. The company is also planning to enhance the hardware for its new batch of iPhone units. No further details about the update are available as of the moment, the report detailed.

In 2012, Apple acquired AuthenTec, the company behind the fingerprint security feature. Last year, the smartphone giant introduced the said feature along with the launching of the iPhone 5S, AppleInsider reported.
