The Season 2 premiere of The Americans would soon air on FX. This got fans all ready and eager to watch as KGB spies Elizabeth Jennings played by Keri Russell and Philip, played by Matthew Rhys, are confronted with a painful dilemma. Both Philip and Elizabeth had been confronted to whether they should protect their family or remain to be loyalists of the Soviet Union.

In the previous season, the couple had remarkably avoided the capture even as the Cold War escalated. Aside from carrying out a risking mission from their Washington DC home, the couple was also raising two kids through an arranged marriage. Not only that, they were also operating a busy travel agency to cover up their operation.

Further, Elizabeth had just recovered after incurring a gunshot from an FBI pursuit. Meanwhile, Philip recently married Martha Hanson, played by Alison Wright, in his alter ego as Clark. Hanson is the executive assistant of the head of counterintelligence of the FBI.
