Splice announced the close of its seed funding round with USD 2.75 million in capital commitments from various investors. The round was led by Union Square Ventures. True Ventures, Lerer Ventures, SV Angel, First Round Capital and Code Advisors also gave their support for Splice. As part of the transaction, Union Square Ventures Partner Andy Weissman would be joining the Board of Directors at Splice.

Based in New York City, Splice is still currently running on private beta. It is a technology platform created specifically for musicians. Through its collaboration and version control techniques, the platform simplifies the process of making, saving and sharing music. As a result, artists are able to manipulate musical DNA, share work and get feedback from other collaborators and publish a musical piece directly for fans to hear.

Splice Co-Founder Matt Aimonetti said, "As programmers, we have a large array of tools available for us to develop and understand code, by applying the same principles to the music creation process, we can empower artists and fans to redefine the way music is created and consumed."
