Solarcentury forms South African alternative energy venture with local partner

Solarcentury, UK-based solar solutions provider, would be forming a new alternative energy venture with local partner Momentous Energy. On Wednesday, Solarcentury Africa was said a need to be formed in order to capitalize the growing trend in solar and other alternative energy sources in South Africa.

In the announcement, Solarcentury CEO Frans Van den Heuvel said, "(The joint venture has put the company) ahead of the curve in being able to supply roof and ground installations to meet anticipated growing demand for solar energy from southern African countries". 

Van den Heuvel also added that the new venture had completed its pilot project and was gearing to set up its biggest installation in the southern African region yet. "Solarcentury Africa (would be building) the biggest solar roof-top system in South Africa in the coming months," he said.

Solarcentury has 15 years of experience in the solar energy industry and is known for its Blackfriars solar bridge in London, among others.
