The morgue of Nairobi, Kenya, has prepared for the arrival of more people killed in the attack by Islamic militants inside the Westgate Shopping Mall. The gunmen said there were still hostages alive inside the mall as they continue to hold their ground against state security forces.

Kenyan Red Cross Spokesman Abbas Gullet said there were already at least 62 people killed, but the number of casualties inside the building were still not known. A government official who asked not to be named told the Associated Press that the morgue was readying for the arrival of up to 60 dead bodies.

The four-day siege had affected the Kenyan market. Standard Digital News reported that the shares traded at the Nairobi Securities Exchange yesterday fell by 50%. Chairman Daniel Gachuru of the Nairobi Business District Association also told Standard Digital that low productivity would still be felt as uncertainty continues. He said it was still too early to quantify the revenue losses of those who have been doing business in Westlands. However, he said the 100 businesses in the area would experience loss of revenue and incur additional costs in terms of security.
