Clayton Dubilier to raise USD3 billion for buyout fund

Clayton Dubilier & Rice LLC is one the oldest private equity firms in the industry. The company had gathered almost USD3 billion after the first phase of its fundraising. The fundraising was for its ninth investment pool said people familiar with the matter.

So far, the collected amount included a USD250 million commitment from Clayton Dubilier, said source who asked not to be named as the fundraising was held private in nature. The company had started its fundraising last March with a USD5 billion target.

Clayton Dubilier had purchased unwanted or underperforming units of bigger companies. The former had vied for capital through a competitive fundraising market. Clayton Dubilier generally makes investment in either distribution or services-related businesses that are valued from USD1 billion to USD15 billion, according to the company's website.

According to London-based research firm Preqin Ltd, approximately 1,958 funds had looked a total of USD770 million funds. Clayton Dubilier spokesman Tom France declined to give statements on the fundraising of the company.
