Zayo Group to purchase Access Communications

Zayo Group LLC announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Access Communications. The latter is a provider of metro Bandwidth Infrastructure for clients in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market. The acquisition was priced at USD40 million is subject to certain adjustments.

Access Communications covers the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul market with its 1,200 mile metropolitan fiber network. The company provides services to major datacenters, hotel facilities and more than 500 on-net buildings. Access is primarily focused on providing services to government agencies, enterprises and to a concentrated set of Minneapolis area carrier clients.The company, in particular, provides dark fiber services to the education sector. 

Zayos' extensive network resulted from prior acquisitions, substantial customer contracts and new network constructions. With its latest acquisition, Zayo's fiber network would expand in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. The company would be able to reach more prospective customers as it offers Access clients with broader set of Bandwidth Infrastructure products. The acquisition would be funded in cash and is expected to close shortly after regulatory approvals.
