President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya announced that his government would be building a temporary terminal in the coming weeks. The new airport terminal would rise at the location of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, which was destroyed by a recent fire. The new facility would be able to manage the travel of about 2.5 million passengers.The leader also revealed that his government would also be fully refurbishing Terminals 1, 2 and 3 as soon as soon as the temporary terminal is up. Terminal 4, which is currently being constructed, is set to be ready before its projected March 4, 2014 deadline.

The President also allowed passengers to use the Presidential pavilion of the JKIA to ensure their comfort while construction is ongoing. He said, "Passengers are coming in and going out, as it ought to be. They are not as comfortable as we'd like them to be, but we are working on that." He also assured that safety and security at the JKIA had also been improved.
