Freedom Brewery, a UK-based microbrewer of craft lager, has just received GBP 1 million (USD 1.53 million) from Oakfield Capital Partners. The funds, given under the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), are intended to help the brewery increase operating capacity and take its sales and marketing programs to the next level.

Originally founded in 1995 in Parsons Green, London, Freedom relocated to Staffordshire 6 years ago. The move gave them access to the Burton water table, which brewers of high quality drinks have been using for centuries. In the last 4 years, Freedom's beers have earned more than 20 awards both at home and around the world.

Oakfield Capital Partners is a private equity firm that specializes in helping British businesses, both small and medium-sized. Partner Tim Woodcock said that the firm is happy at the investment. "We are delighted to become investors in a craft brewer that produces an outstanding range of lagers and provide the growth capital that Freedom needs to secure its position in an attractive, growing market," he said.
