No More 'Shamu' Shows for SeaWorld, Ceases Orca Breeding

SeaWorld recently announced that there will be no more theatrical killer whale shows at its San Diego flagship park. Instead, it will be replaced with an orca exhibit that provides education about the mammal.
Having a joint statement with the Humane Society of the United States, SeaWorld officially carry out to end these kinds of show at all parks and to cease the practice of breeding the whales. Orcas already at the SeaWorld parks will have to live there with the rest of their lives and will be the last of the captive whales, says the Consumerist.
SeaWorld theme parks have dealt with declining attendance and criticism due to the treatment of orcas in the aftermath of the 2013 documentary 'Blackfish'. The documentary harshly criticized SeaWorld as untruthful and deceiving and delving to the death of SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau in 2010, who was pulled underwater getting her drowned by an orca named Tilikum. The said Orca weighs 12,000 lbs. and 22-foot long and suffers from an incurable lung infection, according to Mail Online.
