Sales of "The Cuckoo's Calling" soared as its mystery writer was unveiled this week - none other than Harry Potter's famous author J.K. Rowling.

The novel, published under the pen name Robert Galbraith, sold only a measly 1,500 copies during the first week of its release. After the reveal, the crime novel shot up to become the number one  book on both Barnes & Noble and Amazon's charts. A few hours later, the book was 'temporarily out of stock' according to the online bookseller.

"I hoped to keep this secret a little longer, because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience!" said J. K. Rowling. "It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation and pure pleasure to get feedback from publishers and readers under a different name," she said.

In a record breaking fashion, the total sales of "The Cuckoo's Calling" exponentially increased by 507,000%

The publisher of the novel, Mulholland Books is an imprint of Little, Brown, and Company, headquartered in the United Kingdom.
