Sony Xperia M5 has been included in the lucky list of devices from the Japanese tech giant to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade. Despite the scarcity of information regarding the release date of the firmware, reports are firm it will come not later than March 2016.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow being the most prominent upgrade in Android history is expected rolling out to Sony Xperia M5 device in the first quarter of 2016 if not this month. Sony announced in October its desire to pursue head-on Marshmallow update to its devices.

Although there have been no official statement coming from the company, it would safe to assume a 'not later than Marsh 2016' rollout of the software to the device as hinted by a concept of Marshmallow. Devices under mobile carriers are more likely to receive the update later than retail or unlocked versions.

Sony Xperia M5 is a 5-inch smartphone first debuted in September 2015 . Its display is made of an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen protected by a scratch resistant glass. It boasts a 21 MP main camera, 13 MP front camera, 3 GB of RAM, and a non-removable 2,600 mAh battery.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow software is set to fire up all the more the killer device. In terms of usability, Google dev crafted a better and ultra-powerful Smart Lock.

Launched in Lollipop, Smart Lock on Marshmallow gives choices for unlocking device or keeping it unlocked depending on different intelligent instances. It can be found in the security settings and needs the use of lock screen security.

It also includes choices for trusted devices like a smartwatch and a Bluetooth speaker, trusted places like home or office via GPS and Wi-Fi data, trusted faces and on-body detection. With body detection, device will not lock if not put down. Each Smart Lock is opt-in and reversible.

Marshmallow also brings Smart Lock for Passwords feature. It is a Google password manager in truest sense. This feature will allow website and app password to be saved on a Google account.  Removing apps and viewing content can be done here.
