Bell Media Acquires Astral, Appoints New Top Execs

Bell Media officially acquired Astral Media Inc. for Can$3.2 billion. The acquisition included two over-the-air TV stations, 77 radio stations, eight pay and specialty TV services, and last but not least, the Astral's out-of-home division.

Regarding acquisition, Bell Media President Kevin Crull said, "Our union with Astral is full of opportunity for our audiences, our industry, and our team members. Our objective is to create content and build brands that entertain, inform, engage, and inspire audiences through the platforms of their choice. We will deliver on our commitment to provide world-class content to our listeners and viewers, as we make significant investments in the Canadian broadcasting system."

In addition, Crull also introduced on Friday several additions to Bell Media's line up of senior executives, several of which came from Astral Media. These new top execs were Jacques Parisien, Charles Benoît, Rick Brace, Chris Gordon, Luc Quétel, Luc Sabbatini, Phil King, Bart Yabsley, Wendy Freeman, and Adam Ashton. In addition, Ian Greenberg, Astral President and CEO, joined the BCE BOD.
