Swiss game developer Mojang is in talks with American movie firm Warner Bros Studios to create a movie based on the popular indie video game Minecraft, according to Mojang founder Markus Persson. The game studio's founder revealed the plan on Twitter today, wrote TechCrunch.

The plan to make a Minecraft movie comes after the Lego movie was successfully launched. As of now, the Swiss indie movie has 100 million registered users. In addition, more than 14 million copies of the PC-based game have been sold as of the start of February, the report detailed.

The fact that Minecraft already has a wide fan base leads to the idea that a movie based on the game will probably click, the report added.

After Persson announced the movie plan on Twitter, another leak was published by Deadline. According to the latter, Warner Bros already have the film rights to Minecraft and that they are planning a live action vrsion of the game. Lastly, Deadline said Roy Lee, the movie producer of Lego, is heading the initial production of the Minecraft project, TechCrunch reported.
