Danone US is recalling all flavors and sizes of its popular YoCrunch yogurt products after reports of sharp plastic pieces were found in the dome toppers, the company announced Monday.

The issue only affects the toppers — small, dome-shaped containers attached to the yogurt that hold mix-ins like Oreo, granola, M&M's, Snickers, and cookie dough.

According to a notice posted by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), some of these toppers may contain clear plastic fragments ranging from 7 to 25 millimeters long.

These plastic pieces, which could have sharp edges, pose a serious choking hazard, especially for children, FoxBusiness said.

"The issue is isolated only to the separately packaged topper and does not impact the yogurt itself," Danone explained.

The voluntary recall includes all YoCrunch yogurt products that are currently being sold in stores across the country, with expiration dates ranging from July through September.

Danone stated the recall is being done "out of an abundance of caution" and emphasized that customer safety is their top priority.

Danone Urges Consumers to Toss Recalled YoCrunch Yogurts

The company is asking customers not to eat the affected yogurts. Instead, they should throw them away.

According to CBS News, anyone who purchased the recalled products can contact the YoCrunch Consumer Care Line at 1-877-344-4886 to request a refund.

The plastic pieces were first discovered after several customers complained. In response, Danone began removing products from store shelves and launched an internal investigation.

While no injuries have been reported, Danone is working closely with retail partners and the FDA to ensure all affected products are taken off the market.

YoCrunch, which has been on store shelves for over 30 years, has been owned by Danone since 2013. Known for its fun toppers, the brand has been especially popular with kids and families.

The FDA has provided a full list of recalled products and their code dates on its website. Customers are urged to check their refrigerators and dispose of any potentially dangerous containers.

Danone says it is also reviewing safety procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future. For now, the company is focused on addressing the issue and hopes to return YoCrunch to shelves soon — with safer packaging.
