Japanese automobile major Toyota Motor Corp is planning to launch driverless cars in the market by 2020. Toyota will launch three models in semi-automatic range this year in Japan market. The semi-automatic cars equipped with Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) are technology-driven vehicles that change lanes, merge with traffic or even overtake other vehicles. The fourth generation Prius hybrid car is one among the three semi-automatic models is scheduled for launch in Japan market in 2015.

Ruling out North America's claim that European antitrust authority is going in an anti-US bias in dealing with Google and Apple, the European Competition Commissioner (ECC) Margrethe Vestager has termed it as a misleading notion of the world's largest economy. Vestager has been criticized in the US media for her role in opening multiple cases against the US corporate giants Google, Apple, Amazon and Starbucks during the past one year. Vestager has become the target of the US media as European regulators are protecting EU companies from the US competition.

Amazon is disallowing the sale of media-streaming devices from Apple and Google. In an e-mail to its marketplace sellers, the Web retailer says that after October 29, it will no longer sell Apple TV's and Google Chromecasts. "It's important that the streaming media players we sell interact well with Prime Video in order to avoid customer confusion," said Amazon in the e-mail.

The five-years patent lawsuit battle between Microsoft and Google had finally come to an end after both companies agreed to drop the lawsuit for an undisclosed amount. The announcement was made by in a joint statement from the two companies.

US tech giant Google may not be paying taxes to Britain, but according to its latest report, it is contributing a great deal to UK's economy through the digital revenue made by local businesses in that nation through the search engine.

Pinterest announced it had reached 100 million monthly users this week. The company will include 'Buyable Pins' on the site soon. Tim Kendall, Pinterest Monetization GM, told Fortune that the startup had crossed 100 million monthly users. Kendall said the number of shared links and images have doubled over 18 months as well. Added to that, searches to Pinterest had risen to 81% over the previous year.

Google is reportedly teaming up with Twitter to provide users with instant access to articles, reviving speculations the search giant may be acquiring the micro-blogging site. Re/Code reports the two tech giants are now working on a publishing tool that will enable users to view articles instantly on their mobile phones. That's a departure from the current set-up where users have to wait several seconds for a story to load.

Google named John Krafcik, a former Hyundai Motors CEO, as the new chief executive for its self-driving car. Krafcik will serve the company later this month.
