Sony Xperia Z Ultra will still experience the Android 6.0 Marshmallow as one petition claimed. This international call for Sony Mobile to roll out the Marshmallow update to the device sparked after it released a list of qualified smartphones and tablet to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow via over-the-air (OTA) release.

Following its absence from Sony's roadmap list for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Sony Xperia Z Ultra is one of its devices excluded from the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade. Although the firm has not issued an official statement accentuating the motive behind its exclusion, expectations have it that Sony could be considering restrictions of the device's specs, especially the RAM and processor.

Change.org, a website which posted an article soliciting support that the upgrade be made available to the device, has emphasized that Xperia Z1's 2GB of RAM and 2.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8974 Quad Core is the same as Xperia Z2's. Accordingly, these configurations are enough for Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The mobile department of Sony has posted on its official blog site its roadmap or plans for the Marshmallow update. It enlisted a total of 14 smartphones and tablet confirmed for the update. With this, Android followers are speculating that the list excluding Xperia Z1 Compact is just initial and subject to additions as Sony Mobile has emphasized its vision to bring in the Android 6.0 to more of its devices.

Enlisted devices include Xperia C4, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia M5, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5.

However, there is no official word from Sony yet as to the exact roll out date of the upgrade.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow offers key features, allowing users to work out greater control over app permissions; purchase easily and securely with fingerprint support and Android Pay; experience enhanced battery-life through Doze; smarter Google Now; and redesigned App Drawer.
