Android 6.0 Marshmallow Features, Release: List of HTC, ASUS, Huawei And OnePlus Units To Get OS Update Revealed

After Google released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, smartphone makers have been doing their best to bring the newest update to their mobile phones. The HTC, ASUS Huawei and OnePlus gave the list of their handsets that will obtain the upgrade. Upon the update, there will be certain enhancements that will be featured in the devices.

According to AndroidPIT, HTC has given the list of their handsets to receive the Andorid M. The HTC One M9, One M8, One M9+,One E9+, One E9, One ME,One E8, One M8 EYE, HTC Butterfly 3, HTC Desire 826, Desire 820, and Desire 816 will reportedly get the new OS.

The HTC One M8 and M9 will be receiving the latest operating system by the end of 2015 and other models will follow. Meanwhile HTC also confirmed that One M7 would not receive Marshmallow because it is now more than two years old and outside of the update window.

Furthermore, Latinos Post added the list of Asus smarphones to receive the Marshmallow upgrade. The roll out will begin with its latest models, namely those in the ZenFone 2 series, including the ZenFone 2 Laser, ZenFone 2 Deluxe, and ZenFone Selfie.The Taiwanese manufacturer will bring the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, and ZenFone 6 in second phase.

On the other hand, some Huawei handsets are also expected to receive the newest Android version. The Chinese tech giant said that the P8 will be the first device to get the Android M update, but has not given a date for when this will occur. Moreover, the company may bring Marshmallow to a large number of its devices, most probably to the Ascend Mate 7, Honor 6, and 6 Plus.

Lastly, OnePlus will be updating One and OnePlus 2 with Android M via new builds of OxygenOS or HydrogenOS. Some believes that Marshmallow may arrive in the said OnePlus handsets around 2016.

Additionally, Tech Advisor cited the changes and improvements that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring to the above mentioned devices. One of the enhancements is Doze, a new deeper-sleep state for devices running Android M which helps to bring up to two times longer battery life. The Android M will also have a wide support for USB Type C, or USB-C, which is a reversible-type connector that allows users to charge three to five times faster than other devices.

Aside from that, the Android 6.0 will also standardize support for fingerprint sensors that can be used not just to unlock and secure your phone, but tie in nicely with the new Android Pay mobile payments system. The App permission was also improved as the Android M apps will request permission for activities the first time it is required.

Another new feature in Android Marshmallow is Now on Tap. There will also be easier access to Voice Action from the lock screen by simply swiping from the left corner. And lastly, Google has also included an 'Intelligent Prediction Engine' that sounds like Apple's 'Proactive' assistant in iOS 9.

With these improvements, users of HTC, ASUS, Huawei and OnePlus will surely be very excited to experience the changes that Android Marshmallow will bring to their handsets. Meanwhile, they still have to wait until the smartphone manufacturers confirm the specific date of Android M release to the aforementioned gadgets.
