It is confirmed that Sony Xperia C4 will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow following Sony Mobile's revelation of its roadmap for the update. Marshmallow will bring in new Sony features and functionality and improvements.

Sony Mobile revealed last October 6 a list of Xperia smartphones and tablets that will be receiving the the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow software via over-the-air (OTA) release . The list came out through a posting on Sony Mobile's official blog site.

However, the Japanese tech giant has no official word yet regarding the release date until now but speculations have it that Android 6.0 will roll out to Xperia C4 before the year ends.

Aside from Xperia C4, Android 6.0 is also confirmed to roll out to 13 other devices like Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2, among others. Meanwhile, there are also Xperia devices that were not mentioned in the list for the update like Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Z Ultra. This prompted rumors that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is the final journey of the devices for software updates.

In another point of view, tech analysts and Android experts both agreed that the list is only initial and is subject to changes. In fact, the mobile department of Sony has expressed that the company is working hard to take along the major Android software update to as many of its devices as possible and as quickly as it can.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings in key features, allowing users to work out greater control over app permissions; purchase easily and securely with fingerprint support and Android Pay; experience enhanced battery-life through Doze; and redesigned App Drawer.

Google Now becomes smarter. It recognizes diverse contexts, offers answers and aids users take action.

Apps Permissions provides users better control of the permissions of downloaded apps. Users are given the choice to assent to or reject permissions entirely. It is important to take note that Permissions are required the first time users try to use a feature, not at the point of installation.

App drawer has an all-new design. It now scrolls vertically instead of horizontally against white background. It also shows four most recently used apps across the top of the menu.

Fingerprint support brings device uniform support for fingerprint scanners devices running Marshmallow. Fingerprint functions to check purchases, unlock phones and purchase and shop in real-life or in the Play Store.

Mobile payments like American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are now supported. The update also brings Google Pay.

With Marshmallow, power and charging expands device up to two times longer standby time using Doze. It makes use of motion detectors to control the device when not in use. It also diminishes background processes, while begins alarms and informs users of priority notifications even when using Doze.
