Latest 'Castle' season 8 spoilers reveal that Kate Beckett has to make a big decision. A decision that could change the entire course or "shake things up." While New York state senate is up, Kate has been promoted to captain in 12^th precinct. It is also speculated that there will be more drama about her and Castle's relationship next season.

It was not only actress Stana Katic who made a big decision of returning to 'Castle' Season 8 after she bid farewell, but her character Kate Beckett too. According to TV Fanatic, Kate has to choose between running for New York state senate and take the new position as the new captain of 12^th precinct.

But, TVLine has reported that Kate chooses the higher position in 12^th precinct as the new Captain. In an interview with the site, co-showrunner Alexi Hawley shared that they want to "shake things up."

Hawley added, "The show has been doing a great job with what's its been doing, but now we've been given an opportunity to really sort of add some energy into it -- in part by putting Beckett in the captain's office, but also by introducing both a new series regular and a recurring player."

But Beckett's running for office is "something we absolutely considered, and it's not like it's off the table," added co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter. "What we realized is that the best way to tell Castle's stories is to have Castle investigating twisty, fun cases. And the best way to do that is to keep Beckett in the precinct."

Whether in senate or in 12^th precinct, Kate Beckett's relationship with her husband Rick will be much affected, according to Latin Post.

"The important thing to say about [Rick and Kate] is that the show has always been and will always be about their love affair," Hawley said. "But we're looking to add some drama to it, some spark to it. We're going to have fun. It's going to be emotional at times, it will be romantic. ... It will be everything."
