Another live action of a Disney classic is in the workd and it will feature Aladdin's bubbly blue genie friend. Exploring the world of magical creatures who grant wishes, Genies will serve as the prequel to the 1992 classic Disney picture and will be written by Freddy vs Jason writers.

Aladdin has been one of Disney's most popular and well-accepted animated movies which was released in the 1990s. After more than 2 decades,  Disney has recently announced that a movie will be produced which will explore the magical world of genies and will tell the story of how Aladdin's genie friend got stuck into the lamp.  The movie is said to kick start a story that will lead into a subsequent Aladdin live action movie.

Still in the early stages of production, Disney has already announced that the movie will be written by  Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who previously penned Freddy vs Jason and the remake of Friday the 13th. They have also written the upcoming comedy movie O' Lucky Day which has been slated for a 2017 release.

No other details have been released yet as to the directors and actors, although, reports suggest that stage actor James Iglehart might be a good candidate for the role given that he won a Tony award for playing Genie in Aladdin's Broadway production.

In the 1992 film, genie was dubbed by the late actor Robin Williams, which also starred Scott Weinger, Larkin, and Jonathan Freeman.

The upcoming Genie movie will be the latest addition to Disney's pile of recent live action movies following Cinderella, and Maleficent. Aside from that, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book, and Pinocchio's Live Action movies are also in the works.

Genie  will be produced by Tripp Vinson under Vinson Films. More details about the Aladdin live action movie prequel, 'Genies', are expected to be released in the coming months.
