It might still be a long wait before fans will be able to witness Iron Man in his standalone film as discussion for Iron Man 4 and actor Robert Downey Jr is becoming stale. New Iron Man might be introduced after Marvel phase 3.

Fans are excited to see Iron Man in the big screen, and it sure is a good thing that he will be featured in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. However, watching Iron Man in action, in his standalone film might be a difficult prospect as Marvel might not be having Iron Man 4 anytime soon.

A source previously said that Robert Downey Jr. might still want another Iron Man film. "I think he'll be back for another one. I'm sure of it," as director Shane Black was quoted. It sounds like exciting news, however, the reason for the film's delay is reportedly not because whether RDJ wants another instalment, but because of financial issues. Reports suggest that RDJ has decided to ask for a higher talent fee, given the franchise' popularity and success.

Robert Downey Jr was previously hailed as the highest grossing actor by Forbes in 2013 after $75 million in his film appearances. He also won the same title in 2014 still, after having $75 million as his earnings.

But if ever the deal between Marvel and RDJ does not happen, reports suggest that a new Iron Man might be introduced after the phase 3 of the MCU. The person to replace RDJ in the role is reportedly Ty Simpkins who played the role of Harley Keener in Iron Man 3.

When asked about the possibility of Simpkins as the new Iron Man, RDJ said "I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I'm casting director for Marvel,"

Marvel has not made any announcement about Iron Man 4 yet as of writing. Captain America: Civil War will soon hit theaters in May 6, 2016.
