According to the International Business Times, it looks like actress Shailene Woodley may get another chance at playing Mary Jane Watson in the planned 'Spider-Man' reboot now that the beloved Marvel franchise is back in their hands.

We all remember how Woodley was cast as the titular character's potential love interest in the most recent 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' film, but her scenes were cut even before the film premiered in theaters because the producers wanted to focus more on Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey.

Everything is still speculation as of now, given that Marvel studios has not released any official information regarding the film's plot or casting, but during an interview with Clevver Movies, Woodley made it quite clear (with her enthusiastic answer of "Heck Yeah!") that she is very interested in reprising her Mary Jane Watson role in the Sony-Marvel 'Spider-Man' film.

However, the chances of Woodley getting cast as the webcrawler's red-head girlfriend is at 50-50 due to being "too old" for the character. According to report released by Screenrant, Marvel is looking to cast younger actors as they plan on introducing Peter Parker, Spider-Man's alter ego, in his teenage years (around 15 years old). This, of course, would mean that the Mary Jane character should also be a teenager, so if this news is indeed true, then that puts Woodley out of the picture for an MJ comeback.

This is not the first time that Woodley has shown great interest in being a part of a Marvel comic book film. A year ago, during an interview with MTV UK, Woodley commented on how she wanted to be in a film that was created by Marvel because they were so fun to watch.

So what do you guys think? Should Shailene Woodley be recast as Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming 'Spider-Man' reboot by Sony and Marvel?
