3D Systems acquires California 3D modeling firm Gentle Giant

3D Systems Corp has picked up Gentle Giant Studios, a company that provides 3D modeling services for the entertainment and toy sector. This was according to a report published by 4-Traders. The financial terms of the acquisition deal were not disclosed, the report stated.

Gentle Giant is presently based in Burbank, California. The firm has led the development of modern content using 3D scanning and modeling. The company uses this technique to create licensed 3D printed toys, collectibles, and characters. The firm's franchise properties include Disney, Marvel, Avatar, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and AMC's The Walking Dead, the report detailed.

A month ago, 3D printers maker 3D Systems announced its intention to acquire a part of Xerox Corp's product design, chemistry, and engineering group. The transaction is reportedly valued at $32.5 million in cash. The deal is aimed towards the company's business expansion, the report explained.

On Friday, the shares of 3D Systems Corp increased by $1.43 to $95.62 apiece during pre-market trading, 4-Traders reported.
