Zimperium announced today that it has secured $8 million in a funding round led by Sierra Ventures. The company will use the new capital to build out its mobile intrusion prevention system, according to TechCrunch.

The firm also has a tool that helps IT administrators monitor all devices registered to a certain network. The company is working on a super secret project to turn the tables on sneaky hackers. To accomplish that, Zimperium is going to hire more hackers. Kevin Mitnick, one of the world's most famous hackers, is on the company's board of advisors, the report detailed.

The California firm has a mobile app called "zAnti" that allows daily users to test networks for vulnerabilities such as "man in the middle" attacks. These types of attacks hijack a user's session and then silently eavesdrop on every transaction, acting as a trusted participant, the report explained.

The company's Chief Executive Officer, Itzhak "Zuk" Avraham, worked with the Israeli Defense Forces for three years, TechCrunch reported.
