Swedish app maker MAG Interactive raised USD6 million in funding from Nokia Growth Partners. The company is the maker of the game Ruzzle, according to a report published by TechCrunch.

The Ruzzle app has been downloaded over 45 million times in less than two years to date. It is a classic word game where players fight to find the most words from a grid.  The startup did a soft launch of the game a few years ago. Unfortunately, it had a slow start and only hit the top spot in the US by early 2013, the report said.

The app maker said the it did not really need the additional capital because it was already profitable. The USD6 million was given to the parent company of MAG Interactive, the report stated.

MAG Interactive plans to add more to its current staff of 22 people. The firm also said it will work to provide a free-to-play experience for its subscribers. At present, Ruzzle uses a premium version where players can pay for the ad-free game, TechCrunch reported.
