Elon Musk said Tuesday that his social media company X is working to correct its AI chatbot Grok after it publicly sided with rival OpenAI CEO Sam Altman during a heated dispute between the two tech leaders.

According to Forbes, Musk called the bot's remarks a "major problem" and claimed it gave "too much credibility" to traditional media reports.

The clash kicked off Monday night when Musk accused Apple of giving OpenAI special treatment in its App Store rankings, claiming no other AI company gets to take the top spot.

Musk, who's been feuding with OpenAI for years, warned he might take Apple to court over it.

Altman shot back on X, saying he'd "heard" Musk pumps up his own engagement on the platform.

He called Musk's claim about Apple a "remarkable" one, given accusations that Musk manipulates X's algorithm to benefit himself, his companies, and harm rivals.

Grok AI Criticizes Musk's X Algorithm, Owner Demands Adjustments

Altman also shared a Platformer report claiming Musk pressured X engineers to tweak the algorithm in his favor following the 2023 Super Bowl, TheNYLedger said.

The exchange escalated when an X user asked Grok, Musk's own AI assistant, to weigh in. Grok sided with Altman, stating: "Musk has a history of directing X algorithm changes to boost his posts and favor his interests, per 2023 reports and ongoing probes."

Musk rejected the statement, calling it "false defamatory" and an example of why Grok needs adjustments.

"This is a major problem," Musk wrote, adding that while the issue must be fixed, it also shows the platform's integrity in allowing even critical responses to be visible.

Grok, which Musk launched last year as a competitor to ChatGPT, is trained to answer questions with humor and an "edgy" tone.

Its willingness to repeat media claims Musk disputes has sparked debate about how much influence platform owners should have over their AI's responses.

Musk has not detailed exactly how Grok will be updated, but X's engineering team is reportedly reviewing how the chatbot processes and cites information from external sources. For now, Grok remains active on the platform while the company works on changes.
