Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that the company is training a new and improved version of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system.
According to Musk, the updated model features around 10 times more parameters than the current version and includes major upgrades to video processing.
According to CNBC, in a post shared Wednesday on social media platform X, Musk stated, "Tesla is training a new FSD model with ~10X params and a big improvement to video compression loss. Probably ready for public release end of next month if testing goes well."
This upgraded FSD version is still not fully autonomous. Drivers are required to keep their hands on the wheel and be ready to take over at any moment.
However, it's designed to help Teslas handle more complex driving tasks with less human input.

New Tesla FSD Boasts 10X AI Power for Safer Driving
The FSD system builds on Tesla's existing Autopilot feature, which is already available in several international markets like Europe and China. What makes this upgrade special is its AI model size.
A model with more parameters typically means it can process more data and make smarter decisions — which is critical when a vehicle is reading road signs, watching for pedestrians, and navigating traffic.
Musk's announcement comes at a time when Tesla is under pressure. The company's automotive revenue dropped 16% in the second quarter, and sales in Europe have seen sharp declines, CBTNews said. Tesla's stock has also fallen by over 23% this year, as of Wednesday.
Despite these challenges, Tesla continues to bet big on autonomous driving. The company even launched a robotaxi service in Austin, Texas earlier this year — a clear sign that autonomy is still a top priority.
Many Tesla supporters believe that FSD will play a major role in the company's future. As competition heats up, especially from fast-growing Chinese electric vehicle makers, Tesla is working to stay ahead by improving what its cars can do without a driver's constant help.
If testing goes smoothly, the upgraded FSD system could be released to the public by the end of August.
