"Trumpism" in Florida

Biden expressed his determination to make Trump a "loser again," invoking the challenge of countering "Trumpism" in the state. He criticized Trump's handling of the country, citing the nation's state during the Covid pandemic and economic challenges.

The president highlighted contrasts between his administration and Trump's, touching on issues such as mass shootings, the economy, abortion rights, and the January 6 Capitol attack.

While Biden ended his speech with an optimistic prediction of winning Florida, he faced a significant polling gap. He lost the state to Trump by over three percentage points in the 2020 election.

Jupiter, where the fundraiser was held, is located in Palm Beach County, where Trump resides, and faces legal scrutiny for alleged mishandling of classified documents at Mar-A-Lago.

"Close to Un-American"

The president focused on the economy during his speech, criticizing Trump's comments about a potential economic downturn before the election, branding it as "close to un-American."

Biden mockingly referred to Trump as "Donald Herbert Hoover Trump," emphasizing the former president's purported negative impact on jobs.

The fundraising events in Florida aim to secure financial support for Biden's reelection bid, following significant contributions of over $97 million in the final quarter of 2023. The president's visit coincided with Trump's presence in Florida, with both landing nearly simultaneously.
