Xiaomi Mi5 Release, Price, Specs Update: CEO Promises Device is Worth The Wait

Xiaomi is opt to release another smartphone called the Xiaomi Mi5. To stir up the fans' excitement, the CEO of the company promised that the device is worth waiting for. Speculated specifications and features of the Mi5 were also revealed.

According to International Business Times, a lot of tech enthusiasts are waiting for the debut of the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship smartphone. Lei Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi has confirmed during the launch event of the Redmi Note 3 handset last Tuesday that the smartphone is worth the wait and will surely impress the world. However, Jun did not reveal any information on the specifications and features of the handset. However, he did add that the company is really working hard to announce the handset soon.

Despite this, there are already rumored details of what the smartphone would carry. Latin Post cited the features that the Xiaomi Mi5 might sport. This device is believed to be engineered with either Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or the ten-core Helio X20 from Mediatek. The former supports Qualcomm's Ultrasound technology while the latter is hands-down the faster chipset.

The Mi5 is expected to feature a 5.3-inch screen with 1440 x 2560 Quad HD display and could be packed with 4 GB of RAM, and 16GB or 64GB internal memory models with no support for micro-SD expansion.

As for the camera, this smartphone will be armed with 16-megapixel back camera with dual-LED flash and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper. It will be powered by a 3,030 mAh in capacity battery and will have support for USB Type-C connector. The smartphone runs on the company's home grown Android-based OS known as the MIUI 7.

The Mi 5 is believed to cost ¥1,999 in China which is approximately $316.

Furthermore, TechnoBuffalo reported that Xiaomi previously stated that it would launch in the U.S. eventually, though likely not for a few more years. As of the moment, the company offers some of its accessories and non-mobile gadgets via an online store in America and Europe.

Since the CEO of Xiaomi has stated that the Xiaomi Mi5 is worth waiting for, it seems that the handset will surely be armed with great specifications and features. However, with no concrete information yet, fans have to continue playing the waiting game until the Chinese tech giant reveals the devices' details.
