Xiaomi Mi5 Release: Co-founder Confirms Smartphone Not Launching on October 19; Xiaomi to Reveal New Camera, Gaming Device Instead?

Since Xiaomi has sent invites for its forthcoming event on October 19, 2015, many has expected that the occasion will be the debut of Xiaomi Mi. However, no launching of smartphones will take place in the said event as the Chinese tech giant is rumored to introduce a new camera or gaming device instead.

According to Tech Times, there were a lot of speculations that have focused on the company unveiling new devices in its event next week. The much awaited Mi 5 and Mi Note 2 smartphones, as the devices have been the subject of numerous leaks and rumors, were expected to take the spotlight on October 19. Butthe questions surrounding the Mi 5 and the Mi Note 2 will unfortunately not be answered on the event, as the occasion seems to have nothing to do with the said devices.

Furthermore, the co-founder and president of Xiaomi, Lin Bin, confirmed that the Chinese tech giant will not be unveiling the Mi 5 and the Mi Note 2 in the event. In addition, he said that other devices such as smartwatches and notebooks will also not be a part of the event.

Now, the question of what could the Oct. 19 event hold surfaces again. Speculations say that Xiaomi could be preparing to unveil something related to the video game industry. Lei Jun, the founder and CEO of Xiaomi, posted on social media website Weibo that the next generation of technology and science, such as games, consoles and processors, has not been used much within the smartphone industry.

 NDTV Gadgets on the other hand, predicts that the Chinese company may also launch a new device category targeted at photographers. As the image posted by CEO of Xiaomi shows a camera and a lens. The photo also includes a tagline that said, "Better lens and body separated," hinting that Xiaomi might launch a camera.

Going back to Mi5, Digital Trends stated that the much awaited Xiaomi Mi5 might sport a 5.2-inch screen with a 1080p resolution. It will be engineered with Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM. The Mi5 will be armed with a 16-megapixel camera on the rear, and an 8-megapixel from camera good for video chat and selfies. As it was mentioned, the device might run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, which will inevitably be covered in the MIUI skin, plus a choice of a 16GB or 32GB model.

Meanwhile, details about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi5 are still scarce to date. If the device will not be launched on Xiaomi's October 19 event, many are hoping that the company would at least give a few hints about the said smartphone.
