The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update that was first seen on Nexus handsets is now reaching other smartphone manufacturer's handsets. Sony and HTC are only two of the phone makers to deliver this newest upgrade on its devices. The Sony Xperia Z and HTC One M9 are expected to obtain the Android M before the year ends.

According to Christian Today, Sony Mobile has revealed a list of their devices that are eligible with the new Android environment. It was reported that all of the flagships that were included for an upgrade belong to the Z series. Sony has already announced that a build for the new Android platform is being tested for the Z3 and Z3 Compact flagships. But since this is only a test build, the Android M version is only available to minority of the users.

Aside from the Z3 and Z3 Compact, other Xperia Z iterations that will get the Android 6.0 update include the three latest Xperia Z5 variants, the Z4 tablet, the Z3+ and Z3 compact tablet, and Xperia Z2 tablet. It is also speculated that Sony may extend the Android Marshmallow roll out to include the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Google Play Edition in the Android M update.

Master Herald reported that Jason Mackenzie, an HTC official, has confirmed as early as September 29 through a tweet that Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will come to HTC units very soon. The Taiwanese tech giant normally brings updates to the devices outside of the US before it rolls out to American carriers which takes some time as it has to complete some sort of testing before making it available to customers. However, there have been leaked images of HTC One M9 in the US that already features the Android 6.0 Marshmallow as of early November. With this it is most probably that the update will be coming earlier than expected.

Furthermore, Neurogadget said on its article that it is just a matter of time until more and more devices will start running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. But unfortunately, a lot of the handsets will receive the latest Android OS update sometime in Q1-Q2 2016.

As time passes by, many Android smartphonesare already set for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade. Sony Xperia Z and HTC One M9 are just a few of the lucky handsets to obtain the update this year.
