Arthur Darvill will always be associated with Doctor Who. In fact, fans of the popular British series cannot help but compare his character as Rip Hunter in "Legends of Tomorrow" to The Doctor since they are both time travelers. Darvill shared his thoughts about the comparison and also the possible references that his character might use in the series.

The former "Doctor Who" star will be in the highly-anticipated "The Flash" and "Arrow" spinoff as Rip Hunter, a time traveller who also wears a long overcoat with a British accent. But before the fans assume that he's the American counterpart of the beloved Time Lord, Darvill clarified the main difference of the two.

"Rip Hunter is totally different to the Doctor. He's a lot darker, and he's not an alien! He's a Human Man. And he's got a very specific mission. Yes, they're very different characters," Darvill told Radio Times.

Since showrunners Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Marc Guggenheim are big "Doctor Who" fans, there might be references from the BBC series here and there in the upcoming CW series. Also, some Back to the Future mentions might also be included but that's just about normal as Darvill adds, "I don't think you can do a time-travelling thing without referencing Doctor Who or Back to the Future. This definitely puts a new spin on it."

Meanwhile, speculations recently circulated online claiming that Metal Men, a group of six AI robots created by Dr. Will Magnus, will be coming to "Legends of Tomorrow" following the Marc Guggenheim's tweet that saw a Newstime magazine cover showing a platinum bar, Vine Report wrote.

However, the excitement among DC fans was short-lived after Guggenheim himself clarified that the tweet was not a hint at all but is merely an eater egg of the fictional magazine, ComicBook.com wrote.

"Legends of Tomorrow" will see a time-travelling Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter who will join forces with famous DC superheroes headed by Oliver Queen and Barry Allen. The CW series is slated to drop on 2016.
