Apple has taken another win with its iOS 9 update as it passed the Android 5.0 Lollipop's adoption rate in just two days.

Google has launched the Android 5.0 Lollipop almost a year ago, but it hasn't been doing well in terms of how many devices run the version.  As of September, only 21 percent of active mobile devices run the Android Lollipop version.

Apple, on the other hand, has achieved this same percentage in just about two days. iOS 9 has been adopted for 21 percent of Apple devices since its launch. This is despite the Slide to Upgrade software bug that has been reported recently in the past few days.

Analytics firm Mixpanel has reported that the figure quickly rose to nearly 35 percent. It means that Apple's iOS 9 update has surpassed the adoption rate of Android 5.0 Lollipop's in a very short amount of time. It took the iOS 9 update only 5 days to win over Android, according to NDTV.

At this fast rate, Apple is expecting that iOS 9 will be the most downloaded update in the company's software history. The percentage is fast climbing to reach more than 50 percent of devices.

Early analysis of the iOS 9 updates so far reveal that the new version is being installed at the same pace as the previous iOS 8, according to Fortune. In addition, there were also technical glitches and bugs in iOS 8.

Apple recently launched new model variants of their products such as the iPad Mini 4 and the new Apple TV. The Cupertino-based company is also expected to launch the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus, which are expected to run iOS 9 by default, in the following days.

One of the main problems with Android 5.0 Lollipop's low and slow adoption rate is the fragmentation of its devices. Even now, only 31 percent of Android devices run 4.2 JellyBean and 39.2 percent for 4.4 KitKat, according to PC Mag. Before the month ends, Google is expected to launch the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version.

Apple's iOS 9 update adoption percentage is not surprising at all due to the company's closed hardware ecosystem. Unlike Android devices, iOS products are only manufactured by Apple. This gives them a close eye on the products and a much lower fragmentation percentage on all their devices.
