Samsung Galaxy S5 on Sprint, Verizon, AT&T & US Cellular to Get Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Very Soon

As T-Mobile gets a notch ahead, Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and US Cellular are now reported to release the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphones. The update shall give Galaxy S5 units improvements, more notification controls and security enhancements.

Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and US Cellular are expected to follow suit T-Mobile's rollout of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software version on its own versions of Galaxy S5. According to reports, major mobile carriers in the US are on the verge of preparing the update as the Android 6.0 Marshmallow also is coming to its near release slated later this month.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come through over-the-air update using a Wi-Fi connection. If prompted for the download, make sure the battery is charged up to at least 50 percent before heading to the download. Storage should have an extra memory space depending on the download's file size. The update shall come in stages.

T-Mobile last updated its Galaxy S5 device last month with an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and it now has software version G900TUVU1FOG6. Galaxy S5 units are in queue for Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Here's a quick rundown to 5.1.1 Lollipop features and improvements in Material Design, notification controls, device sharing, and device syncing.

  • Material Design. Enjoy a more colorful and fresh new look and feel. Lollipop brings in more fluid animations along with improved apps and personalization options like colors, widgets and themes.

  • Device sharing. Sharing device can now be done more securely through guest user mode. Create multiple user accounts to allow friends to access device to prevent them from accessing owner's private files.   • Device syncing. Apps, song, photos and even recent searches from one Android device can be accessed fully across all other Android devices.
