Stagefright and battery drain are among the main reasons why Samsung has to update Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Through official over-the-air release of the latest Lollipop update, these plus-size smartphones will get the immediate solution for the problem, plus additional improvements.

Both Samsung's 2015 flagship smartphones Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are patiently waiting for the official cue from Google solve the long-term problem on Stagefright security threat and excessive battery drain brought by mobile radio active bug.

Stagefright threat usually attacks through sending an MMS to apps like Google Hangout and Whatsapp. Say, a video message was sent to a device and the user hits the play button most likely the bug will steal or destroy saved data on the device without the user knowing it.

According to Google developers, about 95 percent of Android phones around the world are affected by the said security threat, which is why Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is released to users within a timeframe unlikely for Google to release updates.

Another reported issue is the mobile radio active bug that cause battery to massively drain. This bug leaves apps open even they are being closed down. In previous reports, mobile radio active was first noticed when the Android 5.0 Lollipop update hit phones.

When notified, just click "install" to proceed to upgrade process and follow onscreen instructions. When not notified by a network, try to check the update's availability on Settings > About phone > Software update > Check for update.

Once the device gets update with Android 5.1.1, the firmware version should now be G925SKSU2COH7.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop brings in better user interface, Samsung Pay support, apps edge, audio enhancements, more secure KNOX, and a lot more.

Meanwhile, Google has not announced yet when the update will hit other regions across the globe.
